I have been to many vets in Tacoma over the years and Dr. Self at Columbia Veterinary Hospital is the most knowledgeable and caring person who has ever helped me with my dog. The whole staff is great and you can tell they are truly passionate about what they do. Without question this is the place you want to treat your pet, they are the best in Tacoma.

We brought our 13 year old pitbull here for a quality of life assessment. (It was our first time here) He has never been a good patient, he was terrified of the vet, but Dr. Self didn't seem to mind, she snuggled and loved on him and fed him all the treats! Their compassion means the world to us! - read less

Our Sweet dog Shep started having difficulty in the late fall with bleeding from a tooth that wouldn't stop. We took our nine year old Kelpie in to see Dr. Self. She did blood work and determined he had a very low white blood cell count. After time and various meds the count never approached a normal level. Shep was relatively active until Sunday evening when he took a significant turn for the worse. Monday morning while My wife Joanne watched he took his last breath. Dr. Self sent us a very "non-scripted" and sincere sympathy e-mail today. We cannot be happier with all she did for Shep. As well, all of the staff at Columbia were both professional and personally engaging with us and our dear dog, Shep. - read less

We had to change vet since our previous vet retired. After doing thorough research we settled on Columbia Veterinary Hospital. Pleasantly surprised after getting appointment on the same day! That never happened to us at old vet. Dr. David Reisen is awesome, our pup instantly relaxed after meeting him (and so did I). 5 stars to Dr. Reisen and to the friendly front office staff.
